Measuring real-world cannabis products for predictable, reliable wellness outcomes

The Phyto Science Research Group is a nonprofit cannabis research organization dedicated to advancing scientific understanding of how commercially available cannabis products produce measurable physiological effects in individuals.

By studying delivery methods, cannabinoid ratios, and terpene profiles under controlled research conditions, we aim to reduce uncertainty, improve safety, and support more predictable outcomes in cannabis use.

Participate in Research Support the Research

We focus on rigor, transparency, participant safety, and public education.

What we evaluate

  • Smokable flower, concentrates, tinctures, edibles, and other delivery methods
  • Cannabinoid and terpene ratios
  • Onset, duration, and variability of effects
  • Participant-reported outcomes and observable physiological responses

Our mission

Our mission is to advance evidence-based understanding of how cannabis products interact with the human body, helping individuals, clinicians, and researchers move toward safer, more consistent, and more predictable outcomes.

We believe rigorous research, transparency, and public education are essential to improving how cannabis is understood and used.

Research

Evaluate commercially available cannabis products using controlled, standardized research protocols.

Education

Translate research findings into accessible, science-based resources for the public and professional communities.

Impact

Support informed decision-making and reduce variability and uncertainty in cannabis experiences.

What we study

We focus on real-world cannabis products that people are already using, documenting product variables and outcomes to better understand what contributes to consistency and predictability.

Research scope

  • Smokable flower, concentrates, tinctures, edibles, and other delivery methods
  • Cannabinoid and terpene ratios
  • Onset, duration, and variability of effects
  • Participant-reported outcomes and observable physiological responses

All studies are conducted under controlled circumstances using documented methodologies and ethical research standards.

Why this research matters

Despite widespread cannabis use, many individuals report inconsistent or unpredictable outcomes — even when using the same product or formulation.

Variability in product composition, delivery method, and individual physiology can make it difficult to understand what works, why it works, or how to repeat positive experiences.

By systematically studying cannabis products and their effects, we aim to identify patterns that contribute to more reliable outcomes and fewer negative interactions.

This work helps expand scientific understanding while supporting safer, more informed cannabis use.

Scientific rigor and leadership

The Phyto Science Research Group is led by a multidisciplinary team of cannabis researchers, authors, executives, and entrepreneurs with decades of combined experience.

Our leadership includes contributors to peer-reviewed publications, authors of foundational cannabis literature, and innovators holding U.S. PTO-approved patents related to cannabis infusion methods and product development.

Executive Leadership

Guiding organizational strategy, ethics, and research direction.

Research Leadership

Designing and overseeing study protocols, data collection, and analysis.

Advisory Council

Providing scientific, clinical, and industry expertise to ensure integrity and relevance.
